TOKYO: An earthquake with a seismic intensity of 4 jolted Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo, at 20:52 on March 31 but caused no tsunami. The Japan Metrological Agency said the quake’s epicenter was at a depth of 70km in northwestern Chiba Prefecture with a maximum magnitude of 4.7.
The Agency advised people to be aware of future jolts and stay tuned and gather information.
Tokyo’s buildings swayed suddenly for about 7 seconds.
An eyewitness in Yokohama city said, “he felt it was a big earthquake with big sudden shaking with a bang. I was surprised.” Another Tokyo resident wrote on social media, ” although it is not a very big earthquake, it may be a warning that we should be prepared because earthquakes have been occurring frequently recently.”
