TOKYO: Muslims in Japan joined Ramadan prayers on Wednesday at the Tokyo Mosque located in the Yoyogi district.
After the prayers, they gathered to break their fast by eating specialties offered by a generous patron.
Muhammet Rifat Cinar, Iman of the Mosque, pointed out that it was the first time Muslims could attend Iftar after the government lifted the restrictions which were imposed against the COVID-19 pandemic.
An Indonesian student from Osaka University explained that it was easier to practice Ramadan in Japan than in Indonesia, due to the cooler climate.
Tar, a teacher at a French high school in Japan, added that for two years, big gatherings were not allowed due to COVID restrictions. He added that he was happy to see people from different parts of the world.
