TOKYO: Japan on Monday said it “deeply deplores” the terrorist attack in Western Sinai, which left 11 Egyptian soldiers dead and five injured on May 7.

“Japan expresses its condolences to their families and extends its heartfelt sympathy to those injured,” the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.

“Acts of terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and Japan firmly condemns terrorism in all its forms,” according to the ministry.
