TOKYO: Their Majesties, the Emperor and Empress, met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife, who are visiting Japan, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on July 27.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, when His Majesty the Emperor asked, “I am interested in environmental issues, especially water issues; how about in Indonesia ?”, The President responded, “River pollution is serious.”

His Majesty said, “I pay tribute to the president’s commitment to environmental issues.”

When he was a Crown Prince, His Majesty Emperor Naruhito attended a luncheon when the Emperor and his wife met with the President and his wife in 2015.
