New York: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday welcomed efforts by Turkey to help Ukraine resume its grain exports, while criticizing Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
A joint coordination center established in Istanbul, Turkey, to oversee the export of Ukrainian grains is the result of persistent diplomatic efforts, Kishida told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a meeting in New York.
Kishida and Erdogan agreed to accelerate negotiations on concluding a bilateral economic partnership agreement at an early date.
Erdogan expressed condolences over the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was gunned down during a campaign speech in July.
