Tokyo: Japan will continue to support Ukraine, hit by a barrage of Russian missile strikes from Monday to Tuesday, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi told Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky on Wednesday.
“We want to keep supporting Ukrainian people facing difficulties by cooperating closely with neighboring countries,” Hayashi said, criticizing the Russian attacks on many places in Ukraine, including the capital of Kyiv.
The meeting between Hayashi and Korsunsky was joined by ambassadors to Japan from five countries neighboring Ukraine, including Poland and Moldova, as well as the U.N. high commissioner for refugees’ representative in Japan.
Korsunsky sought further cooperation as evacuees from Ukraine are expected to increase further.
