TOKYO: The Japanese government welcomed the formation of the new government in Iraq, almost a year after the election of the Iraqi Council of Representatives last October.
Japan said strongly hoped that all political parties in Iraq will work together to address various challenges, including stabilizing the country and strengthening relations with neighboring countries.
On October 27, the Iraqi Council of Representatives approved the cabinet ministers’ list submitted by Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Al-Sudani, who headed the newly formed cabinet.
A statement by the foreign ministry in Tokyo on October 21 said the Government of Japan will cooperate with the Al-Sudani government towards further enhancing bilateral relations and responding to the challenges in the Middle East.
