
Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al Safadi held a telephone talk on Wednesday.
The two officials discussed efforts regarding the situation in Syria, including the international meeting on Syria hosted by Jordan on May 1.
Hayashi expressed his respect for Jordan’s efforts to improve the situation in Syria, and explained Japan’s efforts and support to revitalize the political process and improve the humanitarian situation in Syria.
The ministers agreed to continue to work together closely for the improvement of the situation in Syria.
In addition, Hayashi mentioned the recent visit of Jordan’s King Abdullah II to Japan and the 3rd Strategic Dialogue between Foreign Ministers, and expressed his pleasure at the steadily developing bilateral relationship.
The Japanese FM also expressed appreciation for Jordan’s assistance in evacuating a Japanese national from Sudan. In response, Safadi stated that the King’s visit to Japan had provided momentum for the development of cooperative relations between the two countries, and that he would like to continue to further strengthen these relations.
