TOKYO: The Japan Coast Guard, the US Coast Guard and the Philippines Coast Guard held their first joint working-level meeting on Saturday in the Philippine capital Manila.

The three Coast Guard agencies reconfirmed the importance of cooperation toward realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

Japan Coast Guard Captain MIURA Atsushi represented Japan, US Coast Guard Captain Brian Stratton represented the United States, and the Philippines Coast Guard was represented by Vice Admiral Rolando Punzalan.

The three Coast Guard agencies confirmed the necessity of conducting regular trilateral exercises to ensure stability and safety in the Indo-Pacific region.

They confirmed they will continue to share information closely and addressed promoting cooperation and collaboration in various fields.

They also recognized the importance of joint Japan-US training and reconfirmed that they would continue working together on developing human resources.
