TOKYO: The normalization of the diplomatic relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia “was the result of the cumulation of diplomatic efforts by various countries and I appreciate that that has been achieved,” Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa said at a press conference on June 13.
“Japan will continue to strengthen its relationships with Middle East states, which are critical in terms of energy security,” Hayashi said in response to a question from Arab News Japan.
Hayashi added that there were various issues Japan must address with its partners in the Middle East.
“Not only are we cooperating in traditional energy areas, we are also working within comprehensive relationships in a number of areas, including clean energy such as ammonia, and industrial diversification and these were points that were discussed at my meeting with (UAE Foreign Minister) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” Hayashi said.
Hayashi met Sheikh Abdullah for talks on Monday.
