DUBAI: A Qatari sociologist has blamed blasphemy and plastic surgery for the deadly Beirut blast that wiped out the entire port area of the city and killed more than 200 people.

In a video that has been widely shared across social media, Abd Al-Aziz Khazraj Al-Ansari begins his rant declaring “this is a message to our people in Lebanon,” before making claims that the Aug. 4, 2020 explosion was due to un-Islamic behaviour by the Lebanese.

“You all have attacked the law decreed by Allah for the world,” he added.

He said that Lebanese people were cursed when they travelled to the UK, US and France.

“They curse your mother and if they want more, they say ‘Goddamit!’” and he added: “They call on Allah to curse you and stuff like that.”

He said in Lebanon people blasphemed, “They curse Allah! They curse your religion!” he said, adding “Everybody curses the religion!”

“You curse Allah and his religion and you expect him to give you success?” he asked, adding that blasphemy was the main cause for the vast explosion that ripped through the heart of the city, smashing out windows, overturning cars and even capsizing a ship docked at the port.

The center of the blast was warehouse 12, where there was a vast stockpile of ammonium nitrate that had been stored there for six years, it’s widely believed this was the cause of the second – and most powerful – of two explosions.

Al-Ansari said Lebanon’s misfortunes were also down to the country’s apparent love of plastic surgery.

“Lebanon is famous for changing Allah’s creation. You want to puff your lips? Augment your breasts? Change your face? Go to Lebanon,” he said.

In the final part of his video against Lebanon – which is in a state of political, financial and social turmoil – he blamed homosexuality, claiming that in Lebanon there was an “abundance of homosexuals.”

He said Lebanese media encouraged people to tell “sexual jokes,” something he said would “infuriate Allah.”

His rant finishes with him blaming the apparent “83 percent of Lebanese girls” who he claimed were unmarried and instead involving themselves in “forbidden relationships.”

“What do you think they are doing?” he asked, “Making origami models with the boys? Collecting stamps?”

He then calls on Lebanese people to go into the streets and “cut out with scissors the tongue of anyone cursing Allah.”

“You want to get better? Start with that and you will see how Allah will change your situation for the better.”
