Former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn told Fox Business that he has “actual evidence,” and documents that will prove with there was a coup to “take him down.”

The ex-CEO said he also plans to give out the names of “some people behind the Japanese government,” who were behind his 2018 arrest over financial misconduct allegations, in a press conference in Lebanon on Wednesday.

Ghosn believes "they wanted to take him out" in response to his plan to merge Nissan with its alliance partner Renault SA, the automaker's largest shareholder, according to Fox Business.

Giving up his title as Nissan’s CEO put him in a “dangerous position,” Ghosn said. He added he believes that he should have left Japan, instead of supporting his successor Hiroto Sakawa, reported Fox Business.

Ghosn also told Fox Business that he was "really unnerved and upset" that he failed to understand the unfairness of the Japanese judicial system.

He added that the "straw that broke the camel's back" was the fact that he was unable to speak to his wife, reported Fox Business.

An arrest warrant was issued by Tokyo’s court Tuesday for Carol Ghosn, the former chairman’s wife, for perjury, according to local Japanese media.
