AMMAN: The Japanese government offered a grant of $90,620 to a charity association for the provision of medical equipment in east Amman under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme, according to the Jordan Times.
The funding will provide a new charitable medical center in Jordan with medical equipment. The new clinic will comprise three departments including general practice, gynaecology and dentistry sections.
The center will have its own pharmacy and laboratory facilities, which will provide primary healthcare service for vulnerable people “irrespective of nationality and with or without health insurance”, the statement said.
Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Yanagi Hidenao and President of the association Mousa Salman Al Aqtash signed a grant contract on Monday, according to an embassy statement.
According to the Jordanian media, Yanagi expressed his gratitude at the signing ceremony for Al Urwah Al Wuthqa Charitable Association’s contribution to society.
“The Government of Japan places great value on the work of the association, especially the activities to support the lives of vulnerable people including both Jordanians and refugees from different countries,” the ambassador said in a statement, reported the Jordan Times.
Under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, the country has contributed over $10 million to over 140 projects in Jordan since 1993.
