RIYADH: NEOM unveiled on Sunday its latest addition to its portfolio of ecotourism developments in Saudi Arabia offerings.

Leyja will start along the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba and stretch way inland through a natural valley, surrounded by mountains reaching heights of up to 400 meters.

The new tourism destination comes as part of NEOM’s efforts to become a multifaceted destination, in line with the Kingdom’s ambitions to cultivate a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Vision 2030.

The development will preserve 95 percent of its area for nature, incorporating innovative ecological design and construction techniques to seamlessly integrate into the natural landscape.

The project will include environmentally sustainable three hotels which will collectively provide 120 elegant boutique rooms and suites.

The first property caters to adventure enthusiasts, with a deconstructed design that ascends the valley’s walls like a staircase, preserving the natural terrain’s lines with minimal disruption. Its location makes it an ideal choice for rock climbing and other adrenaline activities.

The second property will be located at the heart of the valley’s largest oasis while the third   is an immersive wellness retreat that promotes well-being and longevity.

Upon completion, Leyja will offer various experiences and activities, including fine dining, wellness facilities and rooftop infinity-style pools as well as hiking and mountain biking.

NEOM had earlier announced the project’s flagship regions, including Sindalah, its luxury island; THE LINE, touted as “a cognitive linear city that represents the future of urban living”; Trojena, its year-round mountain destination and the first outdoor ski experience in the GCC region; and Oxagon, the reimagined industrial city and home to advanced and clean industries in NEOM.
