
RIYADH: Saudi Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call on Tuesday from his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during which they discussed the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
During the call, Prince Faisal expressed his appreciation for Russia’s support for the United Nations resolution issued on Friday, which called for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an urgent humanitarian truce in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The two ministers also discussed the latest dangerous developments in Gaza and its surroundings, in addition to discussing the international community’s role to achieve an immediate ceasefire in order to fully protect civilians, and to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Prince Faisal bin also had discussions recently with his Slovenia counterpart, Tanja Fajon, on the crisis in Gaza.
During their telephonic conversation, Prince Faisal thanked Slovenia for its support of the UN resolution issued on Friday, which seeks to establish an immediate ceasefire, and the opening up of routes for humanitarian aid to reach the besieged people of the Gaza Strip.
The two officials also spoke about efforts to reduce military confrontations in the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
