Saudi Arabia ranked as the biggest source of crude oil imports with 34.33 million barrels or 34.4 percent of Japan’s total take in December 2019, data released by the Agency of Energy and Natural Resource in Tokyo showed.
In December, Japan imported from 30.53 million barrels or 30.5 percent of the total from the UAE, while Qatar provided 10.79 million barrels or 10.8 percent.
Oil imports from Kuwait accounted for 7.09 million barrels or 7.1 percent.
Japan imported 5 million barrels from Russia, which amounts to 5 percent of its imports.
Oil imports for the US accounted for 2 million barrels or 2 percent.
Arab oil accounted for 88.79 million barrels or 88.9 percent, of Japan’s petroleum needs in December.
Japan’s total crude oil imports in that month amounted to 99.93 million barrels, the agency said.
