The origin of the word Kayzo comes from two Japanese words meaning volcano and ocean. The restaurant has an earthy cozy feeling to it. Where you can share your food with friends and family. Kayzo by Myazu have signature dishes by Myazu, but they also have a lot more variety of additional items on the menu.

Kimchi fried rice mixed with Japanese rice and a sunny side up egg in the middle is Kayzo by Myazu’s chef Rayan AlAyesh’s favorite dish to cook. AlAyesh is the development chef at the restaurant, born and raised in Jeddah. He moved to Riyadh 4 years ago and joined MFC (Modern Food Company) about 5 years ago. He started as an engineer, where he studied abroad in the US, and started his bachelor’s degree in engineering.

“Engineering was a very added value that I am very blessed and grateful for, but I really found that my passion was leaning towards what I am doing now, the food and the culinary scene,” said AlAyesh to Arab News Japan.

A requirement for his bachelor’s degree to graduate from hospitality management degree that he enrolled in before getting into the culinary arts, was a requirement of working at a thousand hours to acquire his actual degree.

Part of these thousand hours he worked around many restaurants in the US, and he also have worked at France, and Switzerland. It wasn’t till I came back to Saudi Arabia that where he perused more of the experience in the local market. That is when he decided to go and pursue his degree in culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu, London.

Kayzo by Myazu combines Japanese cuisine with international flavors in one menu. Where it offers you types of sushi, gyoza, and takikomi gohan- (cooked rice) where you would be able to enjoy the joyful taste of truffle butter with beef that melts in your mouth.

In addition to some international dishes such as burgers with a Japanese flavor and crispy shrimp katsu, and it features a dish of crispy duck bao. Kayzo by Myazu also offers a red grouper (najil) fish that comes in fresh order from Jeddah every two days.
