The highly anticipated trailer for the new UFO Robot Grendizer, originally written by Go Nagai, was released, giving fans a teaser of what’s to come once the TV anime drops in 2024.

An introduction of the anime states: “A man who has fallen into the desert has no memory. The man was picked up by Kouji Kabuto and Daisuke. With the fortune made by the clean energy photon power of his dreams, Kouji has two faces: a millionaire and a friend of justice. Kouji – a wealthy man and a righteous friend – puts his trust in Daisuke, who is somewhat shadowy but has extraordinary talents. The days seem to be going on peacefully. An unidentified aerial phenomenon appears in the skies above major cities around the world. It was the Vega Star Alliance, which had attacked from a star system far away from Earth. Humanity is overrun by Vega, which is far superior to Earth’s weapons. Mazinger Z, the iron castle that breaks through the pool of water and rises high above the earth, is also forced to fight an uphill battle against the oddly shaped weapon, the Disk Beast. In the midst of the desperate situation, the alien god Grendizer appears in a cloud of dust. On board was Daisuke, the prince Duke Fried, who had been driven from his home planet of Fried.”

The original story was written by Go Nagai, the General Director was Fukuda Mitsuo and the Director of the anime was Shun Hisato. Meanwhile, the script was written by Tatsuto Higuchi and the characters were designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.

The opening theme music was also performed by GLAY (Music: Kaijin no Ippatsu) and the ending theme song was done by BAND-MAID (Song: Protect You).

Here’s a look at some of the newly designed characters:

Grendizer

A mysterious giant robot that has been considered the guardian deity of the planet Fried. Only qualified “starkers” with the GN factor are allowed to operate the machine.

Mazinger Z

A super robot powered by photon energy developed by Dr. Juzo Kabuto. Combined with a jet slander, it can take flight.

Duke Fried

Starker, a prince of the planet Fried and a passenger of Grendizer. He lost his memory on Earth, where he arrived after his escape, and became Kouji’s friend as Daisuke Umon.

Kouji Kabuto

Grandson of Dr. Juzo Kabuto, a leading researcher on photon power, he is a young leader of the Kabuto Foundation. Behind the scenes, he drives the super robot Mazinger Z and serves as a friend of justice.

Spaser

Disk-shaped support unit that combines with Grendizer
