DUBAI: Ghassan Al-Mashini, the Arabic voice of Kouji Kabuto in the original “Mazinger Z” series, passed away at 69 years old. The cause of his passing was a sudden heart attack.
The late Jordanian artist Al-Mashini was born in 1952 to a Jordanian artistic family. His father was radio broadcaster, Ishaq Al-Mashini, and his two brothers are the artist Nabil Al-Mashini and the artist Osama Al-Mashini.
He received a BA in Theater from Cairo in 1980, and is a member of the Jordanian Artists Association.
Some of his most notable works included A Hard Life; the Abu Awad series; and Al-Manahil, among several others. He also directed several plays and other works.
Al-Mashini was also known for his roles in the Arabic dubbed of classic Japanese anime series such as: Mazinger Z (Kouji Kabuto), Heidi: A Girl of the Alps (Heidi’s Grandfather, Nirusu no fushigi na tabi (Carrot) & Captain Future (Captain Future).
