TOKYO: Sony Corp. said Tuesday its music arm will acquire AWAL, a US music distribution service for independent artists, for 430 million dollars.

Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. will buy AWAL and a music neighboring rights collection agency from Kobalt Music Group Ltd.

The date of acquisition has yet to be decided, while the transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
