DUBAI: Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa met Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah AlJaber Al-Sabah to discuss bilateral relations between the countries.

Both ministers affirmed that Japan and Kuwait have a good relationship since both countries helped each other through historical difficulties such as the Gulf War or the Great East Japan Earthquake.

They welcomed the visa waiver measures for diplomatic and official passport holders of both countries.

Both ministers are keen on cooperating in the energy sector. Hayashi said that the Japanese government is grateful for the stable supply of oil that Kuwait provides and looks forward to working with Kuwait in the field of clean energy, while Salem affirmed that Kuwait is committed to supplying oil to Japan.

When discussing the release of Fukushima water into the ocean, Salem stated that he trusts that Japan will comply with international standards.

The two ministers concluded the meeting by agreeing to continue to strengthen their relations.
