TOKYO: State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI Kiyoto had a working lunch with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ambassadors to Japan on Tuesday in the shadow of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

State Minister Tsuji󠄀 stated that in view of the rapid deterioration of the Israel-Palestine situation, Japan is communicating with various stakeholders to try and help calm the situation and prevent any further escalation between the two parties and in the region.

Tsuji󠄀 stated that strengthening relations with the GCC countries is crucially important for Japan and participating in the working lunch with the GCC Ambassadors was a useful follow-up to the Japan-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in September.

He also expressed his wish to further develop relations with the GCC countries in a wide range of fields through such exchanges.

The GCC Ambassadors said they were keen to further enhance Japan-GCC cooperation in fields that include politics, economics, culture and people-to-people exchanges. They stated that they would continue to make efforts to strengthen the Japan-GCC relationship and maintain close communication to help regional stability.

The lunch was hosted by Mohamad Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, at its Embassy in Tokyo.
