TOKYO: Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI Kiyoto visited the Kuwait Embassy in Tokyo on Monday to sign the Condolence Book in honor of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait who passed away on Saturday.

After signing the Condolence Book, State Minister Tsuji expressed his deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kuwait.

To Kuwaiti Ambassador Sami Ghassab Muhammad Al-Zamanan, Tsuji said that Japan will stand with the people of Kuwait as they overcome this great sadness.

Japan has sent MORI Eisuke, the Chairman of the Japan-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Association, to Kuwait to extend condolences as a Special Envoy of Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio.

Sheikh Nawaf died on Saturday at the age of 86. He was succeeded by Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah, 83, who has been Kuwait’s de facto ruler since 2021, owing to the late Amir’s ailing health.
