NEW YORK: US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield will visit Japan and South Korea from Sunday through April 20, the US Mission to the United Nations said Monday.
Thomas-Greenfield will meet with senior government officials in both countries to discuss greater coordination among Washington, Tokyo and Seoul and North Korea’s nuclear and missile development.
They will also discuss steps to ensure continued monitoring of the implementation of sanctions on North Korea after Russia’s veto last month of a UN Security Council resolution to extend the mandate of an expert panel.
In Japan, Thomas-Greenfield is set to meet with the families of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea, as well as meet with students in the southwestern city of Nagasaki.
