TOKYO: The Pyeongyang summit meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in June will help to achieve “a major change in the geopolitical composition of the world,” the newsletter Korea File reports.

It praised the signing of the “North Korea-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty” as a historic achievement “between nuclear and strategic countries that fight on the front line against the United States and subordinate countries in the east and west of Eurasia.”

The agreement, the North says, will provide “each other with tremendous military deterrence and break the order of US hegemony that has existed since the end of the Cold War.”

In their meeting, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in fields such as politics, economy, culture, and military affairs. “As a result, the international economic sanctions network against Korea, which the United States and its followers built by abusing the United Nations Security Council, was also forced to collapse,” the report stated.

While quoting Kim’s intention to expand and develop foreign relations, “corresponding to our country’s strategic status,” it stated the need of “subduing the United States.”

The two leaders are expected to meet again at the BRICS Summit hosted by Russia in October.
