TOKYO: A protest was staged in front of the US Embassy in Tokyo on Tuesday to object to the summit meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
The protest was organized by the Network Against Japan Arms Trade (NAJAT) and was titled “Say NO to the Trump-Netanyahu massacre talks!”
The organizers labeled Netanyahu “a war criminal who should have been arrested” and criticized Trump for being “more complicit in genocide than Biden.”
They blamed Trump for “lifting sanctions on Jewish settlers in the West Bank, resuming exports of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, demanding that Jordan and Egypt ‘clean up’ (i.e., ethnic cleansing) Gaza residents, approving the ban on UNRWA activities, approving the continued presence of Israeli troops in southern Lebanon, signing an executive order to deport international students who oppose Israel’s genocide, etc.”
They voiced fears that Trump might approve the annexation of the West Bank.
The protesters carried banners that said Trump was “an accomplice to genocide and Netanyahu an internationally wanted criminal.”
Other banners proclaimed: “NO to Trump-Netanyahu’s Massacre Talks!” and “Trump’s outrageous behavior over Biden.”
