BEIRUT: On March 27, 2025, the Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Mr. MAGOSHI Masayuki, hosted a dinner at his residence in Baabda for MEXT Alumni—graduates of Japan’s prestigious government-funded scholarship, formerly known as Monbusho.
The gathering brought together leaders from academia, education, civil society, business, media, and medicine, all of whom had pursued their higher education in Japan. As attendees reflected on their time in Japan, they shared insights on how their experiences had shaped their careers and deepened cultural and professional ties between Japan and Lebanon.
The evening was not only a celebration of shared experiences but also a heartfelt farewell to the latest MEXT scholarship recipient, Anthony Saad, who will soon depart for Japan to pursue a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence for Econometrics at Tohoku University.
“His journey represents the continuation of a long-standing academic and cultural exchange, reinforcing the vital role of such scholarships in bridging Japan with the Arab world,” the ambassador said.
