DUBAI: UAE’s President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, sent a letter to Japan’s Prime Minister, ISHIBA Shigeru, where he stressed the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The letter was delivered by Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and UAE Special Envoy to Japan, who conveyed the President’s wishes for Japan’s continued progress and highlighted UAE’s commitment to strengthening the strategic ties between the two countries.
Ishiba expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s long-standing stable supply of crude oil to Japan and for the UAE’s cooperation with Japanese companies in the upstream development of crude oil.
Minister Jaber said he would like to strengthen bilateral relations with Japan.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation towards stabilization of the crude oil market, and on the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement, which is currently under negotiation.
They also said that Japan and the UAE will work together to make the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai a success.
The two officials discussed ways to improve their relations under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in 2022.
Earlier, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI Yoshimasa told Al Jaber that Japan attaches great importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the UAE and would like to further strengthen cooperation in various fields under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI)”.
The two ministers agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries not only through the CSPI, but also through the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
