TOKYO: Japan's Imperial Palace, the palace's East Gardens and the Sannomaru Shozokan museum of Imperial collections will be reopened to the public from Tuesday, the Imperial Household Agency said Monday.

The move follows the government's decision to lift fully the state of emergency over the novel coronavirus epidemic.

Visitors to the three sites will be asked to wear face masks and use disinfectants. Those visiting the palace and the museum will also have their temperatures taken prior to entry.

The number of people allowed to take part in the guided tour at the Imperial Palace will be reduced to 50 each in the morning and afternoon, a 10th of usual admission levels.
