TOKYO: A strong trembler struck northern Miyagi prefecture at 18:13 on Saturday with a seismic intensity of 5 plus, and the shake was felt in Tokyo with buildings swaying for about 10 seconds.
Japan metrological agency warned people on the coastal areas facing the Pacific Ocean to stay on alert as a tsunami up to one meter high might hit the shore.
The agency said that the epicenter of this trembler was off Miyagi Prefecture at 60 kilometers depth in the Pacific waters with preliminary magnitude of 7.2.
Surrounding region was shaken with seismic intensity around 5 lower in the southern coastal area of Iwate prefecture, southern inland area of Iwate prefecture, Nakadori of Fukushima prefecture, and Hamadori of Fukushima prefecture, local media reported quoting the agency.
