Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Friday that his country will steadily implement sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
Japan will also keep providing assistance to Ukraine, Kishida said at a press conference on the first anniversary of the Russian aggression.
“I ask for your understanding and cooperation to restore peace and order in the international community,” he said, seeking support from the Japanese public.
The Group of Seven major democracies will roll out additional sanctions against Russia, he said.
Kishida said that Japan, this year’s G-7 chair, will lead efforts to promote unity on Ukrainian assistance.
