TOKYO: The North Korean Defense Ministry denounced the daily “hostile” military drills conducted by the United States and South Korea and warned they might face severe consequences. 

“US forces stationed in South Korea and their puppet forces are mobilizing a wide variety of offensive weapons and equipment to carry out what is called a joint, combined-fire, extermination exercise aimed at our nation,” the spokesman said in a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency.

It added that the drills were repeated five times between May 25 and June 12.

“Our armed forces strongly condemn and sternly warn against the provocative and irresponsible actions of the puppet military authorities, which further aggravate military tensions in the region. Our forces will respond defiantly to the enemy’s threatening action and provocation.”
