Japan condemns Iraq protestors storming Swedish Embassy following Quran burning in Sweden

DUBAI: Japan on Monday released a statement strongly condemning protestors in Iraq intruding the Embassy of Sweden in Iraq, after the Quran burning rally in Sweden.

According to a statement by Japan’s Press Secretary ONO Hikariko, Japan called on the Iraqi Government to address the issue appropriately and to make efforts to prevent the recurrence of such acts, including the protection of the premises of diplomatic missions in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Japan also emphasized the importance of all parties concerned to respect the religious beliefs of others and resolve issues through dialogue.
