• Team concluded its mission on Sunday after carrying out 23 surgical operations

LONDON: A medical team from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society on Sunday performed crucial surgeries on Palestinian patients at the Kuwait Specialized Hospital and the Gaza European Hospital in the Gaza Strip, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

Dr. Mohammad Shamsah, an anesthesia consultant, reported that the team was able to save the life of a Palestinian who was critically injured during an Israeli raid in Khan Younis.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Hussein Al-Quwaian and surgery consultant Dr. Mohammad Haider successfully conducted a complex procedure involving the amputation of a patient’s right foot, and the surgical repair of fractures in the left foot of another person.

Urology consultant Dr. Faisal Al-Hajeri described a surgery in which a section of tissue was transplanted from the mouth to create a new urinary tract for a 50-year-old man suffering from severe infection.

Al-Hajeri highlighted the dire medical situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that more than 50 patients had been awaiting treatment for an extended period due to the ongoing conflict in the region which had severely impacted the availability of medical services and supplies.

He emphasized the critical need for additional medical personnel and resources to support Gaza’s healthcare system amid these challenges.

The team concluded its mission on Sunday after carrying out 23 surgical operations to aid wounded and ill Palestinians in need of urgent medical care.
