The Japanese government is funding a project that assists with the renovation of Syria’s Midwifery and Nursing Central School.

The project is in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Development Programme. It aims to further train and develop future health workers to improve maternal & newborn care in Syria.

NONAKA Akiko, Deputy Head of Mission at the Japanese Embassy, toured the school and met with midwifery and nursing students.

“You are the hope for a stronger and brighter Syria,” she said.

The project marks a key step in rebuilding Syria’s healthcare system and reflects Japan’s commitment to improving its bilateral relations with the country.
