RIYADH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on Thursday, Saudi Press Agency reported.

During their call, the military escalation currently taking place in Gaza was discussed, SPA added.

Prince Mohammed stressed the importance to Guterres of strengthening international and regional efforts to stop military operations and reduce the escalation of violence to avoid dangerous repercussions on security and peace in the region and the world.

The crown prince and UN chief also discussed the importance of working to create conditions for the return of stability and restoring the path of peace to ensure that Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights.

The crown prince pointed out the importannt role the UN and its institutions can play in providing safe humanitarian corridors to provide medical care and food needs for civilians who are under siege in Gaza.
