‘The Journey’ anime to be released in Japan cinemas this summer

DUBAI: The Journey, an upcoming animated feature of Manga Productions and Toei Animation, will be released in Japan on June 25.

For this occasion, a new visual poster and the full name of the movie have been revealed; ‘Journey: Taiko Arabia Hantо̄ de no Kiseki to Tatakai no Monogatari’ in Japanese and ‘Journey: A Tale of Miracles and Battles on the Ancient Arabian Peninsula’ in English.

Manga Productions announced previously that “The Journey” will be released in the cinemas this summer. The movie’s narrative is set in the Arabian Peninsula 1500 years ago, and tells the story of its hero, Aws Bin Jubair.

The Japanese version of the movie features famous voice actors including the Gundam series’ Tōru Furuya, Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Kotono Mitsuishi, working alongside Hiroshi Kamiya, Kazuya Nakai. Yuichi Nakamura and Takaya Kuroda.

Kobun Shizuno, famous for his work on the Detective Conan films will be directing, and Pokémon’s Atsuhiro Tomioka, will write the script. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game’s Tatsurō Iwamoto is the film’s lead character designer, and Kaoru Wada, famous for his work in Ninja Scroll, Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Inuyasha, Ace Attorney is composing the music.

The movie was first announced in May 2019 and was previously planned to be released at the end of 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of the movie has been delayed to summer 2021.

Manga Productions is a subsidiary of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Foundation, also known as MiSK, and named in honor of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. The company aims to create animation, comic, and video game projects to “promote Saudi ideas and messages internationally.”
