DUBAI: Japan’s 17th International Manga Award’s deadline has been extended to July 12, giving artists interested an opportunity to submit their entries.

The initial deadline was set for July 7, but was extended to give more people a chance to compete. The Gold Award and the Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan approximately for 7 days on the occasion of the award ceremony.

The competition was open to receiving entries from April 14. Eligible entries must include more than 16 pages, with both published and unpublished works eligible to apply.

The art should have been created within the past three years and must be submitted in electronic format or printed form. The competition is only open to foreign nationals.

Applicants living outside Japan can apply through local embassies or consulates.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs founded the International MANGA Award in 2007 in order to promote international exchange and mutual understanding through manga culture.
