RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have stressed the need for all OPEC+ countries to adhere to the alliance in a way that serves producers and consumers and supports the growth of the global economy.
The remarks were part of a joint statement after Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was received by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Court in Riyadh on Tuesday.
Both countries agreed to enhance cooperation in several areas, including the oil and gas sectors and clean technologies for hydrocarbon resources. They will develop related projects in a way that contributes to the sustainability of demand for global energy supplies.
The two sides welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of cybersecurity and stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation in this field.
Both leaders praised the signing of a railway link project that will connect the Kindgom’s capital to Kuwait.
Sheikh Meshal also congratulated the Saudi leadership on Riyadh’s selection as host of the 2030 World Expo, as well as the Kingdom’s candidacy to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said he appreciated the Kuwaiti leadership’s support and the country’s nomination for Riyadh to host the expo.
