Iran's Ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani-Movahed has expressed his willingness to further strengthen bilateral relations with Japan in various fields, including the economy.

As the conflict with the United States over nuclear development intensified, he expressed his intention to increase economic exchanges, including trade, with Japan, which has maintained good relations.

Rahmani is worried that "economic activity has stopped" following the withdrawal from the US nuclear agreement and the resumption of sanctions on Iran at the celebration of the 41st anniversary of the Iranian Islamic Revolution held at the ambassador's residence in Tokyo.

"I want Japan to do its best," he said, and expressed hope for strengthening relations.

Iran has partially suspended its nuclear agreement and expanded its uranium enrichment activities.

Rahmani pointed out that a partial suspension "never means departure from the nuclear agreement." If other parties to the nuclear agreement have fulfilled the agreement and Iran has economic benefits, he stressed that the agreement was "ready to return to fulfilling its obligations."

The event was attended by Japan parliament members who gave speeches expressing their wish to keep the "friendly relations strong".

Defense Minister, Taro Kono, attended the event briefly and was greeted by Ambassador Rahmani.
