Tokyo: The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven major powers have affirmed their cooperation in calming the escalating conflict between the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel.

In their telephone talks held Tuesday, the G-7 foreign ministers condemned terror attacks on Israel by Hamas, which effectively controls the Gaza Strip, according to Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa.

During the talks, Kamikawa said that it is important to stop the deterioration of the humanitarian situation of civilians in Gaza.

She explained Japan’s plan to provide 10 million dollars in emergency humanitarian aid to people in Gaza.

Kamikawa also said Japan aims to work with its G-7 partners to evacuate their own citizens from Israel.
