TOKYO: Japan has advised its citizens to refrain from traveling to the Gaza Strip and surrounding areas, in light of the attack on the strip by Israeli forces.

“The Gaza Strip and its surrounding areas are designated as Danger Level 3. which advised to cancel all travels. Please refrain from traveling there,” the foreign ministry said at its Travel Warning website.

“If you hear a siren that notifies you of rocket attack, immediately evacuate to a nearby shelter or a sturdy building,” the ministry advised.

The ministry referred to clashes across the borders.

“When traveling to Israel, please inform your family, friends, workplace, etc. of the schedule and contact information at your travel destination just in case. If you are staying for more than 3 months, please be sure to submit a residence report so that the Embassy of Japan in Israel can confirm the contact information in case of an emergency,” the advisory said.

The ministry also advised business travelers for less than 3 months, to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Overseas Travel Registration “Tabi-Regi” to get the latest safety information or be contacted by the Embassy of Japan in Israel in an emergency.
