TOKYO: The G7 Foreign Ministers and Development Ministers’ meeting concluded that Iran has to stop its expansion of nuclear activities and promptly conclude the agreement,” Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi on Tuesday said.

“Japan is glad talks with Iran over nuclear issues have resumed. We welcome as the G7 the resumption of negotiations on the Nuclear Agreement in Vienna, but we concluded that Iran has to stop its expansion of nuclear activities and promptly conclude the agreement.”

Hayashi said the ministers had held “a candid discussion on the Middle Eastern situation, including Afghanistan and Iran.”

“Regarding Afghanistan, we concluded the importance of strengthening our responses through non-state channels given the worsening of the human rights crisis as well as providing support over basic services,” Hayashi said.

Hayashi also said they were concerned with human rights in the country, particularly those of women, girls and minorities.

He added that the G7 countries are looking into ways of safely transporting people who would like to exit from the country.

Foreign Minister Hayashi Attended the Meeting of G7 Foreign and Development Ministers in the United Kingdom during December 10-13.
