DUBAI: The Egyptian army chief of staff on Sunday discussed boosting military cooperation with his Sudanese counterpart during a visit in Sudan.

Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid arrived in Sudan on Saturday for talks with Sudanese military officials on how to improve military and security cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting follows Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan’s recent visit to Cairo.

The two sides agreed to implement joint training activities for all the branches of both countries’ armed forces, exchange expertise, secure borders and combat terrorism.

Lt. Gen. Mohamed Osman Al-Hussein, Sudan’s Chief of Staff, described the Egyptian delegation’s visit as an important one that came at an appropriate time.
