カイロ：ムハンマド・ビン・サルマン皇太子が立ち上げたサウジ・グリーン・イニシアティブは、世界のリーダーや指導的な環境保護論者から広く歓迎された。

サウジ・グリーン・イニシアティブ（SGI）は、2030年までに、これまでの目標の1億3000万を上回る、年間2億7800万トンの二酸化炭素の排出削減を目標としている。皇太子は、SGI事業では、当該期間中に7000億サウジリヤル（1900億ドル）以上の投資が行われると述べた。

23日のフォーラムで再生されたビデオメッセージの中で、チャールズ皇太子は次のように述べた。「我々は既に大きな進歩を遂げており、サウジと中東のグリーン・イニシアティブがこれを加速させるだろう」。

米国の気候担当特使のジョン・ケリー氏は、25日にリヤドで開催される、より幅広い国々が参加する中東グリーン・サミットに出席する予定だ。

「（サウジの）皇太子が主導するこのサミットは、中東地域ではこの種のものとしては初めてとなる」と、パキスタンの首相官邸が声明で述べた。
